Chapter 23

AURORA

I didn’t want the evening to come to an end but the bar was closing soon and we couldn’t stay any longer. It was almost three, and while sleep would’ve been helpful before I went back to work at six, I was contemplating if staying awake was more effective than getting only three hours of sleep.

As we headed outside, Jagger wrapped the long-sleeve around me, telling me to put it on. It was chilly at night, and I should’ve thought about bringing a sweater. I smiled up at him and put my arms into the sleeves. “Aren’t you going to be cold?” I asked, taking in his tattoo-covered arms. He had a white t-shirt on under his cut, and while he looked extremely handsome that way, I didn’t want him to be cold.

“I’ll be okay,” he told me, rubbing my back before grabbing the helmets. He handed me one, and I put it on as Tiny and JT watched.

“You bought her a helmet?” JT asked amused.

It occurred to me then that Jagger probably didn’t drive around on his bike with two helmets. He didn’t need both but before JT asked that question, I had assumed that Jagger often had people—women—ride on the back of his bike.

I looked at Jagger but he didn’t answer Jersey’s question. He looked annoyed with his best friend, and I took his silence as a yes.

I bit the insides of my cheeks to hide a smile. If he really had bought the helmet just for me, it meant he not only cared about my safety, but probably wanted me on his bike more often.

“Has he fucked you yet?” JT asked.

I froze at his question and Tiny slapped the back of his head. Jagger muttered a curse with a shake of his head before getting on his bike, ignoring JT once again.

“What? Just wanna figure out what’s gotten him so damn whipped. If she has a magic pussy turning him into this class-act romantic, then I want a damn taste. I could use saving too, you know?” JT was grinning at me, and I scowled at him.

“You need help, not saving,” Tiny said.

I wanted to laugh but I kept it in. I wasn’t sure the way they bickered with each other was actually a good thing or not. They had been going back and forth throwing insults at each other all night, and while they were funny at times, I was worried that sooner or later one of them would snap.

But I was wrong about all that. They were just messing with each other in a particularly rude way. But clearly, they were used to it.

“Climb on, baby,” Jagger told me.

Before getting on, I looked at Tiny and JT. “Good night. And thanks for dinner.”

Tiny had paid for everyone’s food. He gave a quick nod. “You’re welcome.”

“Don’t keep him up too long,” JT told me with a wink, and I decided to ignore his remark. I was a virgin but they didn’t have to know that. While I had done a few things with boys in the past, I never got to experience my first time.
